Nigeria Jollof rice becomes winner of the first ever Jollof Hackathon in the US, beating other African countries including Cameroon jollof, Ghana jollof, and Sierra Leone jollof on July 2, 2017.
Miss Atinuke Ogunsalu of Queensway Restaurant & Catering in Maryland, US secured the win for Nigeria with her tantalizing meal of jollof rice.
She carted home US$1000 coworking services from event partner I/O Spaces and an opportunity to become a Chef at Jollof Caviar; an upscale African Fusion Restaurant Opening in Washington DC in 2019.
Miss Ogunsalu told TheAfricanDream that she is happy that she has the honor to redeem Nigeria’s name in the jollof competition.
She expressed her mind on how her win will bring more people to taste the Nigerian jollof rice rather than based their judgements on some false facts.
African countries including Senegal, Ghana, Sierra Leone have battled for Jollof rice supremacy, in a war which might have come to an end.
